Recipe from the Heart

Sweet Potato Casserole

Some recipes carry more than just ingredients—they hold memories, tradition, and love. For over forty-five years, my sweet potato casserole has been a must-bring at family gatherings, but it’s not really my recipe. When I was a young bride, my mother-in-law, Betty Lou, passed this beloved dish on to me, and I’ve been making it ever since. Over the years, I’ve stopped measuring ingredients, relying instead on taste and instinct—just the way Betty Lou did. Though I’m now “famous” in the family for this dish, it will always be Betty Lou’s Sweet Potato Casserole, a recipe that’s seasoned with love and tradition.

I think we were both young brides at the same time. This recipe has always been one of my favorites as well.
    I can certainly vouch for it’s deliciousness!🥘👩🏼‍🍳

I have been blessed to have you and your family in my life since moving to Canada. One thing I have loved time and time again is your cooking. It is definitely made with love. Last Thanksgiving when I had my surgery you had brought over a full Thanksgiving meal including your amazing sweet potato casserole which you had even adjusted due to my allergies. It was so tasty and thoughtful. The love was felt and I was able to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family.
I’m looking forward to enjoying more recipes and coming along on your next journey here.
    Big hugs and much love
